- This is the 4th release in Mars’ Bakemono Zukushi Emaki (“Monster Scroll”) series.
- Distilled at Mars Shinshu / Komagatake Distillery in Nagano, Japan.
- Cask: New American white oak hogshead, cask #4057.
- Age: ~6 years, 11 months. According to Mars’ own sheet.
- ABV: 60%.
- Non-chill filtered, natural color.
- No peat (unpeated malted barley).
- Yōkai / Mythology: “Sarahebi” is depicted — a snake-like creature with a woman’s head. According to marketing materials, Sarahebi (also linked to nure-onna or ubume) represents a tragic, mysterious spirit, often associated with risk around childbirth.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
- Fruity and floral: orchard fruits, perhaps apple or pear.
- A gentle sweetness — honeyed malt.

Palate:
- Rich, smooth texture.
- Notes of ripe apple / orchard fruit.
- Some caramel / toffee sweetness.
- Light spice (cinnamon) and a subtle oak influence (because of the new American white oak cask).
Finish:
- Toasted nuts (or nutty oak). (from retailer)
- Vanilla and gentle spice linger.
