The Glenallachie 7 Year Virgin Oak Series Hungrian Oak Finish Single Malt Whisky 48% Alc 700mL
- This is part of GlenAllachie’s Virgin Oak Series, specifically the 7‑year-old finished in Hungarian virgin oak (Quercus petraea) from the Zemplén forest in northeast Hungary.
- The oak trees in that region grow very slowly (because of cold climate, volcanic soil, and high altitude), which gives the wood a tight grain that’s ideal for mellow, refined maturation.
- The barrels were toasted and medium-charred before use.
- This whisky is bottled at 48% ABV, with natural color (no added color) and non-chill-filtered, so it retains lots of character from the casks.
- According to the distillery, it’s “aromatic, well-balanced and wonderfully unique … delivering silky smooth richness.”
